Area Code 218 Detail

218 is the area code for the northern part of Minnesota, covering cities such as Duluth, Hibbing, and Moorhead. It is one of Minnesota’s two original area codes. In 1954, area code 218 was split to create part of area code 507. Over the years, the shape of 218’s coverage area has been reshaped and reduced; however, it remains the largest area code in the state.
